About Us: Cooks is owned and operated by husband and wife duo Ric and Elaine Tombari who got their start as restaurateurs in the late 80s. While supplying their restaurant they weren’t able to find a reliable source for fresh herbs. The Tombaris went out on their own to find farmers to grow and supply their North Beach cafe. The herb business took off and Cooks Company was founded here of the Market. Today they estimate that Cooks buys speciality fruit, vegetables, and herbs from 250 to 300 different farms each year, creating critical distribution networks for these small family farms. With their 100+ team members, Cooks delivers to restaurants throughout the Bay Area and Napa Valley, and is the go-to for many of our regions award-winning restaurants.
