MERCHANT NEWS AND RESOURCES

The SF Market’s mission is to connect and grow the region’s food and agriculture community from our wholesale market in the heart of San Francisco. This mission is achievable only in a hand-in-hand partnership with you, our dedicated and hard-working merchants. We applaud your fortitude, generational longevity, late nights/early mornings, and constant desire to improve. Your produce feeds the Bay Area and helps support San Francisco as a culinary destination. We are deeply vested in your business success.

The SF Market is unique in its nonprofit structure, community partnership, City involvement, and other complexities. We strive to continue improving communications to bring everyone along as changes unfold and opportunities arise.

40th Anniversary

We congratulate the team at Mollie Stone’s Markets for celebrating their 40th Anniversary! In 1986 Mike Stone opened the largest Natural Food Store in Northern California at the time, and named it after his late Mother Mollie, who worked in the Grocery industry for 45 years. They’ve since expanded to eight unique locations across the Bay Area and opened their distribution site on The SF Market in the mid-90s. Fun Fact: the Mollie Stone’s Market on California Street in San Francisco was the first ever grocery store with a Starbucks inside.

    MARKET COMMUNITY

    2026 Holiday Schedule

The SF Market will be closed on the following dates, as approved by the SFPA Board.

    Food Safety Workshop

In conjunction with Ceres University and Karl Kolb of the High Sierra Group, we will be holding a two-part Food Safety Workshop for our merchants June 3rd and 17th. There will be two sessions each day, so you can choose to attend from 4am – 6am or 6:45am – 8:45am. Attendees who complete both parts of the course will receive their PCQI certification. The course will cover key topics such as familiarization with food safety concepts and an understanding of HACCP principles. Please RSVP for you and your team here. Spanish translation will be provided.

    Typhoon Relief

In April, Super Typhoon Sinlaku (Category 5) hit Guam and the Western Pacific islands, bringing hurricane-force wind gusts and flash flooding throughout the region. On Saturday 5/9 Gavin and the team at Pay-less Logistics transformed their warehouse space into a collection and distribution site to gather supplies for those affected by the storm. As you may know, Pay-less Logistics’ primary business is exporting fresh produce to Guam, including to their sister company, Pay-Less Supermarkets, so this cause is near to their hearts and community. They had over 30 volunteers and collected many donations, including drinking water, sanitary kits, baby supplies, packaged food and toiletries. This effort is a great example of how The SF Market’s food infrastructure provides essential services and increases community resilience. Si Yu’os ma’åse to the Pay-less team and volunteers!
